Things needed for AICM

By Med stu - Sunday, April 8, 2012 1 Comment
I know this post was long due, so I thought i take the time to actually write it so everyone is well prepared for what they need for AICM :)
so the AICM is divided into two halves, 1st one being the in -class and 2nd one the clinical one, ill divide the post according.

The school
The lectures are done by very talented teachers and they have their own slides so you really don't need many things but i highly recommend

FIRST AID (latest )

because you can follow along and add important information as you are going over it in class, i also used

Step-Up to USMLE Step 1: A High-Yield, Systems-Based Review for the USMLE Step 1
it was very helpful

I would say that's everything, just take good notes and focus on class work :)

I'll just list all the things that were needed, i know they give you a long list trust me you don't use it
You need to be in dress suit, with tie so make sure you have that after that

Lab Coat (MUST)

- i listed two types, one is good, one is bad quality, i would recommend get a good one now since you will be frequently using it to take history for patient and it is something that is used all along in your career

PenLight - used while taking history

Reflex hammer - history taking as well

this is something i recommend a small notepad cause you will be taking a lot of histories, i just put this here in case you ordering everything from amazon for your own convenience

Well if something comes up ill be sure to add it to the list and feel free to remind me as well

have a great time in AICM :) and learn as much as possible

  1. Hi,

How long does it usually take to prepare for step 1 after Aicm course? When do most students take it and does the school register you to take with prometric center? When do you plan on taking it?
