Scrubs day!!! + Clinicals explained

By Med stu - Thursday, December 8, 2011 1 Comment
Today was our last day of clinical rotation orientation, we learned alot of procedure, also EKG and some other basic things that will help us.
Starting monday I will be starting my actual clinical rotations, we all have gotten our schedules so let me explain how things work.

AICM has 6 rotations in total

  1. Internal Medicine
  2. Family Medicine
  3. Obstetrics & Gynecology
  4. Surgery
  5. Pediatrics
  6. Psychiatry
We are in groups of 3 and 4, and we get to spend 1 week in each rotation, since its SJSM we haven't been given much instructions as to what we will be doing, all we know is that on rotation day we have to report to the resident on shift. And we have been told that we need to do 1 case write up and 5 SOAP notes which were explained to us last week.

Every rotation has different timing so i can't tell you exactly what the schedule is, but stay in tune and i plan to post regarding every clinical rotation under the label AICM: Rotations.

We have 3 On calls during our 6 weeks of rotation at Jackson Park hospital, on call schedule is given to everyone and those are done individually (unless someone is assigned the same day). We have 2 on call (1 weekday; 1 weekend) for internal medicine and one for family medicine.
On call Schedule:
Internal Medicine - 8PM to 8AM - Weekdays
                              8AM to 8PM - Weekends
Family Medicine  - 8PM to 8AM - Weekdays

SO i will keep everyone updated regarding the Clinicals
OH and  We Got our Personal SCRUBS today provided by the Jackson Park Hospital, Finally something we didn't have to pay for!!
